Thanks for clarifying so much about Scounting.
@ornery ngl kinda cringe
Next time I'll go the full cringe then?
@bababoing @ornery it's the only way
Thank you so much for the help!! I read through this in the morning and I just got scouted! I'm excited >:3
Congrats
Oh, okay, that clears up a lot of things about scouting. Guess ima have to cross my fingers :P
Also, I have 2 questions: Can you get pruned for not posting art for a while, and what is the criteria for "good art"?
No you will only get pruned if your work wasn't good enough to begin with (this includes work that breaks site rules) or you suddenly start posting just absolutely abysmal work repeatedly. As far as what that crappy work would look like it's fairly subjective. The mod team has a pretty diverse tastes and artistic backgrounds. But the baseline would probably be best described as above average creativity and/or skill. Basically don't be worse than Tom. https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/tomfulp/ryu-is-hawt
@s-zenmode @ornery Oh alright. Thanks for the help, really appreciate it! :D
It seems like this system was made for quality assurance. Beginners start out in the unscouted section of the portal and they can move over to approved if they accept a scouting offer. That way users who solely consume see the good quality art the platform has to offer, correct?
Also why implement a system like pruning where the failings of the artist at the head of the branch is felt by everyone else one the branch?
To the first part, yes. Spot on.
To the second, the general idea is to notice the bad branches early enough to stop them from getting too big so that if they need pruning not much damage is done. Currently the system has been updated where users on a clipped branch remain scouted, but no longer have a scouter.
Amazing! thank you a lot! But I don't seem to find the recomended users list... ? could you link that page to me? thank you.
It has since moved locations. It can now be accessed by going to the latest art and sorting it by undiscovered artists rather than approved artists.
that was a LOT to read thank you!
Thanks, I just got scouted, had no idea what it really meant!
So, uh... I have a Question
I got scouted 5 months ago, but recently my art is not on the "approved artist" section anymore, it goes straight through to the "undiscovered artist"
If you are here, please let me know what happend, also please check my art too, if there's bad, just tell me how much and i'll delete it right away
Thanks for your help :)
Thanks.
Woah okay is really a big help, thank you!
Nice guide, i appreciate that.
Thank you for this explanation! I only made an account in May last year but I haven't gotten scouted yet (and yeah, everything on Newgrounds is new to me - sorry!). Making your own audience is daunting, and it's hard to be motivated when the internet demands art be churned out constantly. But I'll keep chugging along, because I want to have fun.
Makes sense. Thanks.
Very helpful!
Thanks!
What does the scout button look like?

What is the criteria for determining which art is good?
